The project has as main aim to improve the complex non-conventional column design (the new dividing wall columns) through the following work:

1. Development and refinement of the technology for a wider range of designs
2. Investigation theoretically and practically the hydraulic design of thermally coupled columns
3. Examination of several generic processes in order to find suitable applications of the technology
4. Fluid flow modeling inside complex columns
5. Development of a methodology for design validation using simulation and pilot plant
